Hooray for Easter Outfits

I am not normally inclined to play dress-up with my kids... I know, I know, I'm about a week too late for April Fool's. I love new outfits on the kiddos! Plus I figured, just in case by Sunday one of them has a cold or a scrape on their face, I should get some Easter pictures now.
"I'm sitting like a lady, Mom!" Hmmm... but it's a better pose than when she insisted on holding her dress up past her underwear!
Kenzie did her usual peek-a-boo over my shoulder, but Parker doesn't just smile at it anymore, he also claps and yells back. Still cute, though!
"Mom, I just need to be a ballerina in my dress!"
He tried to get away by scooting backwards until he was half-stuck under the chair. (He'll learn soon enough that there's no escaping Mommy with her camera)
I love the poses I get when they sit in this chair! Happy Easter!

Clean Up, Clean Up

Today marked Day 1 of my mission to get the yard Easter-egg-hunt ready by Saturday. Ugh. While Parker napped and Kenzie watched Special Agent Oso (her new favorite cartoon - Chris overheard her saying, "Special Alert!" to herself tonight) I cleaned the yard. Well, a very small portion of it. Just the swingset area, which also happens to be the dog's favorite potty area. Let's just say the bucket got really heavy... ugh. Then when Parker woke up I put him out in his playpen. (I was scared I'd missed too many "land mines" for Parker to be rolling around in the grass just yet). He was content to play with Kenzie's toys and eat graham crackers, though.
Kenzie with Taz. "Here, BOY!" she kept yelling. He didn't know to answer to that, and I don't know where Kenzie learned the "boy" part, but if she yelled, "Taz!" he'd come right over.
The leaves are everywhere because I managed to rake them all out to the center of the yard for Chris to suck up with the lawnmower. (Hint, hint!) So that's one part of the yard, and only 4 more to go! It might snow again on Wednesday, too. I've lived in Utah for several years now, so you'd think I'd get used to these pseudo-Springs. But not yet.

Trial Run

Parker's 1st birthday is not too far away, and there's lots of pressure for him to get frosting everywhere for the occasion. I thought it might help him to get acquainted with the sweet stuff, so I gave him a cupcake tonight.
He was very wary. He poked it, and tried to fling the frosting off his fingers. Finally I had to put some frosting directly in his mouth.
That caught his attention - he picked up the whole cupcake at that point!
But it was more fun to just smoosh the cupcake between his fingers.
He started literally throwing cupcake bits towards me with a big grin. That's when I figured he'd had enough "practice" - he'll definitely be ready to make a big mess for his big day!

Still Chewing...

Parker is quite the early riser - sometime around 6am he starts yelling in his crib, flinging his socks, rolling around, and letting me know it's oatmeal time. (Mommy is not a fan of getting up before the sun!) Anyways, he gets tired by about 11 because of this, so when we didn't get home from the store until about 11:30, he was awfully tired -- but determined, I'll give him that. He ate a jar of baby food with his eyes closed, and then proceeded to slowly chew his Cheetos, tipping to the side from time to time!
He literally nodded off while eating his snack, but when I picked him up he figured that counted as his nap! Darn it.

Indoor Projects

Since the weather is far from wonderful this Spring, we've still been stuck inside. Kenzie didn't mind at all yesterday, though. Instead of begging for cartoons, she actually spent over an hour with her watercolors.
I don't know if it's good or bad, but we found a new set of watercolors in the art drawer. I felt bad that she hadn't painted in so long (well, she did paint a jar at the last Achievement Day). Either way, the fridge is very well decorated now!
Here's proof I don't just sit around and take pictures and complain about my hip all day. I've been working on petunias. Harder than I thought. As always. (Everything looks so much easier on TV...)
Here's Parker's ongoing project - stuffing his little face!

Happy Spring from Utah!

I wish this was an April Fool's joke, but no, I just took these pictures a few minutes ago. It was snowing all morning.
What can they say; they're trying.

Tea Party

Last night I came in to Parker's room to change his diaper, but couldn't get to the changing table as his room had been transformed into Tea Party Central. Kenzie even had a carpet sample in front of the door as a welcome mat. I thought it was cute.
