Day of Rest My Foot

"But the sun is just not up yet!" I told Kenzie I felt the same way this morning after being up with Parker (at 2:30, 4:30, and 6:30), but Parker had a new tie so we needed to get to church to show it off! Parker was very entertained with his tie; he rolled it up and stuck the whole thing in his mouth (repeatedly, the thing was dripping with drool). Without warning, however, Parker decided he was done with his outfit. He also decided Daddy probably needed fresh pants, too. So we went home and changed. Back at church, I held Parker and he tried again for a complete outfit change. He succeeded for himself, but I foiled his plan by sheer luck of a blanket between us. Once home, Parker was so worn out he took a nap. Lucky Mommy got to do a load of laundry!

Parker's First Thanksgiving

Here's how Parker spent his first Turkey Day (he did suck on a roll but otherwise his adventures did not center on the food):
First, gearing up for the event with a little doze (Appropriately his bib states, "I Just Pulled an All-Nighter!")
Hanging out with his cousin Paige (he almost looks bigger from this angle but she's got 3 months on him)
With Daddy and Uncle Wes, playing the Tron racing game
All bundled up in the backseat with Kenzie

Happy Thanksgiving!

Kenzie before dinner (she enjoyed the bounty of Thanksgiving by downing three glasses of pop and then eating an orange and at least one apple)
My lovely sister-in-law, Caroline, who gave me permission to title this photo, "A Turkey with a Turkey"
Wes laughing at me because I had literally backed myself halfway up the wall but couldn't fit everyone in the picture
Kenzie watching Wall-E with her cousins (that's my niece Annie about to launch off the chair in the background)

5 Shots, 1 Liquid Vaccine, and 1 Flu Mist: Plenty to Go Around

Today was one of those fun days at the doctor: Parker got 4 shots and a liquid vaccine, Kenzie got to sniff her flu mist vaccine, and I got a flu shot. I was a brave Mommy and went first! You'd never know that Parker had shots, though, he still smiled all day. The only thing different was he actually took a 2-hour nap, which was wonderful because I actually got the pumpkin pies baked.Parker's special treat was a Zwieback toast. I told Chris I can't believe they sell toast. (And I bought it!)
I had to spike his hair at least once so I can tell Diana Lynn I did!

Why We Have a Digital Camera

We knew we'd be amused when we finally developed the film from Chris's camera; we just didn't know how old it was. We got a good chuckle out of these pictures from Labor Day 2006!
I just loved the tummy hanging out from under her sweater!

Christmas Photos

Well, I was feeling brave so I took the kids to Sears for pictures. Kenzie was very good, although we had a hard time getting any natural smiles... Parker screamed his head off when the lady did those weird noises (why clucking is supposed to make my kids smile I don't know).
I won't post the picture I chose (I'm cheap - the lady was trying to sell me a $100 framed masterpiece collage and I was showing her my coupon for the $4.99 pose!). I want to surprise the grandparents. But the runners-up will be posted all over the blog!
I would've picked this one if Parker's head had been up more. Kenzie looked so sweet in it.

"Two... uh FOUR!"

Lately Kenzie has woken up and done one of two things: she's tapped me (not gently) and said, "Mommy Mommy Mommy I'm HUNGRY!" and then has run downstairs and helped herself from the box of clementines on the counter; she also likes to come in, shove a princess in my face, and say, "Jasmine just needs her shoes on!" (You try putting shoes on those tiny dolls when you first open your eyes!) So this morning when she bypassed me before hurrying downstairs I didn't think much of it until she came back... her face was covered in powdered sugar and she was just beaming! "Mommy, I just ate doughnuts!" I asked how many she ate. "Two doughnuts! Uh... FOUR doughnuts!" I suspect she was looking for a big number, and I don't know what the real count was (thankfully I'm speaking of the Hostess donettes, not big doughnuts)... but on a happy note, she sure was peppy this morning!

Look Who's Sitting Up!

Parker has been too busy playing to bother trying to sit up until recently. Now he can sit up for awhile, although he did tip over onto the cat right after this picture. Seiko just looked at him - he wasn't about to move off his warm spot on the bed!

A Minor in Logic Didn't Prepare Me for a Three-Year-Old

Kenzie, sobbing: "I just can't find my teddy bear!"
Mommy: "Why don't you look for him?"
Kenzie: "Because I'm just busy right now!"
Mommy: "You're busy?"
Kenzie: "Yeah, I'm busy crying!"

No Reason Except New Overalls

It's true, I do take pictures each time he's in a new outfit! I developed my pictures two nights ago, and just since September 1st I'd taken 183 pictures. That's not excessive, is it?

Hockey Buddies

Daddy would say, "We're training him right!" Here the two of them are, cheering on the Penguins. (Alright, Daddy isn't cheering in the picture since the Penguins were losing at the moment, and Parker spent more time licking Kenzie's princess camera than he did staring at the bright screen, but I'm sure he'll get the hang of it eventually.)

"Buddy, You Not Eat the Blocks!"

I haven't posted in awhile due to a lovely cold that has sapped my wit, but this afternoon Kenzie came in, dumped the sack of blocks on the floor, and informed me it would be fun to play blocks. It was the most exciting thing I'd done in days so I took some pictures. Yes, I do need to get out more!
I was rather impressed with this in-action shot. It looks like the blocks are about to whack him right in the face but they actually missed. (Lucky!)

Books are for Hitting

Parker loves to look at books - he gets really worked up and hits the pages as fast as he can. I think he just needs to know how stories go, because his sister sure won't tell him. Case in point: last night we were making our third trip to Holladay this week (long story), and Kenzie was making all sorts of obnoxious noises in the back seat. (Parker was loving it, but Mommy and Daddy did not share the same sentiment). In an effort to distract Kenzie, I suggested, "Why don't you tell Parker a story? Tell him Cinderella." Kenzie quickly told Parker, "The glass slipper just fits." We were pretty impressed with her ability to sum it up in one sentence!

Sleeping Beauty Has Joined Our Family

Kenzie with our newest addition
She got to go to Build-a-Bear tonight after filling her potty chart with stickers. She picked every single bear, then finally decided on this one. I saw the Cinderella dress she'd picked out online, but to my surprise she instead wanted, "Sleeping Booty" (I love how she says that one). We figured the expense was much cheaper than buying diapers!

Parker Takes the Day of Rest Literally

You know me, I don't really need an excuse to post a picture of my little goobers, but Parker sure amused us yesterday. Chris put him down on the bed for a minute (apparently he makes a bad computer game partner and tends to whack the keyboard, crashing whatever vehicle poor Daddy was operating), but Parker didn't mind and just lay there, smiling, for a good 20 minutes or so.

Tagging is Illegal, You Know

I saw on my sister-in-law Hannah's blog that I'd been "tagged" to find the fourth picture in my fourth folder. That put me in my "Random Pictures" file, and aren't we glad it did? Here's my nephew, Daniel, in the file cabinet. Yes, IN the file cabinet. If you know him you won't even blink an eye in surprise, though!
