Blanket Fort

My cute girl. Daddy has his work cut out for him during each Achievement Day - both kids want to be where the action is. Last night he kept them occupied with a blanket fort.
The static-hair was definitely the best part. (Poor Parker is teething and has a cold, so his nose has no chance to not be runny.)
My cute guys
Too funny! I now have a new desktop image on my computer.

April 2005

That's when I got my camera. It was a graduation present, and it came with a dinky memory card, so another present was a bigger one. Today I was trying to clean the lens on my camera, and while digging through the box of camera stuff I came across that first memory card. I figured I'd see what was on it!
Here are my nephews, Josh and Daniel. Josh is 16 now.
Daniel and his sister, Jessie
The same kiddos, with another niece, Aubrey, on the end. She just turned 9.
Here's Aubrey's little sister, Annie. (I guess this post is only cute if you see how big these kids are now)
And here's another niece, Megan. Kenzie outgrew those pajamas a long time ago. Just makes me realize how much things have changed. I probably should get a fancy new camera, too, since this one is obviously old. :o)

Work Party

Chris and I are not what you would call "party-goers." So Friday we attended our one party of the holiday season, hosted by the Jordan School District.Kenzie was so excited about the ornament exchange and wound up with a very pretty snowflake ornament. Mommy earned a prize by finishing the Christmas word scramble, so Kenzie got to choose a snow globe. Both items went right on display as soon as we got home!
After dinner the kiddos ran around in the back. I liked watching Parker be Leader of the Pack.
Gina, one of Chris's co-workers, was nice enough to start a "train" and pulled McKenzie around for the longest time. If Kenzie hadn't turned her head right as I was taking the picture, I would've captured the huge smile she had the entire time. Both kids were exhausted that night!

Visiting Santa

I hadn't mentioned visiting Santa to McKenzie this year, mostly because of the idea of waiting in line for two hours at the mall. While at the Festival of Trees, I saw a short line (we arrived 15 minutes after they opened for the day) for Santa and a wonderful little sign saying personal pictures were welcome.
Kenzie was so nervous that she dropped her candy cane at least four times. Finally she managed to quietly ask for the "Kitty with a fish bone and toy mouse." She also remembered to ask for a toy car for Parker. Parker was not happy that I backed up to take a picture, though! Soon enough he'll learn how neat Santa is.

Festival of Trees

Last night we tried to go to the Festival of Trees, but the parking was so insane that we finally gave up. Kenzie was disappointed, to put it mildly, so first thing this morning I took them to try again.
Kenzie is a kid after my own heart. We walked in, and her first exclamation was not, "Wow, look at the trees," or anything like that. Nope, it was, "Hey Mom! It smells like popcorn in here!" I just laughed, but at each intersection when I'd say, "Should we go this way to look at more trees?" she'd answer, "We should go get popcorn first." Sometimes I'm a sucker.
I liked this one for Parker trying to see around Kenzie. He was happy with his goldfish and popcorn, and said, "Ooh!" several times at the trees.
McKenzie was very good about staying away from the displays, but this princess one was really tempting. She kept inching closer to that tea party table!
"Is it Christmas now?" (I've heard that 249 times a day already!)

Christmas Pictures?

Kenzie is sweet. She's at the age where she'll at least sit and try to pose for me.
Parker, on the other hand, runs around and starts screaming if he's held or expected to sit down for a picture. He'll laugh if he's in motion!
Kenzie thinks my begging for a Christmas picture is funny.
I thought, "Okay, the church outfits are too formal. Maybe they'll be happier in their jammies." This was true, I guess, but didn't make for any better pictures.
At least they're happy!

The Countdown Begins...

Daddy got each kiddo a chocolate advent calendar today. Both kiddos were excited to eat their first piece. Parker kept saying, "Please," and reaching out for more, though. He's no dummy - he can tell there are more flaps to be opened!
