Keeping Up with Kenzie

"Look, Mom, I'm Daddy!" Kenzie's imagination is always going full tilt lately.
For example: "tracks" in powdered sugar across the floor. Apparently the bag of powdered sugar made a good pillow for the glass slipper. When it ripped open, it was even more fun. (This was awhile ago - Chris took a picture, thinking it was funny. It took me a few weeks to agree!)
Can't get mad at such a sweet girl, though. She is a good big sister, and Parker sure loves "Kindee."

Can't Top the Moonwalk

That's right, Parker moonwalked last night. Five intentional steps backwards while listening to Weezer. Chris and I couldn't stop laughing. Of course, I got out my camera but he didn't do it again. Watch for him to head-bang at 0:59 like his sister, though!

Somebody Owes Me a Cheeseburger

The bet started with the silly pictures Diana Lynn and I took last week. My father-in-law said, "You couldn't get Bonnie to take a picture like that." Then things got interesting when a cheeseburger was mentioned. I take challenges seriously (at least when they involve food). Here's Bonnie making a goofy face, along with a few bonus goofy faces for good measure. Any other bets you'd like to place? I could use some fries with that burger.

Happy Birthday Camille!

This is funny to me - apparently I cannot count to seven. My cute niece, Camille, just turned seven. I cut 4 ice cream cones, giving me 8 pieces. I figured one piece was extra in case I broke one, but then I forgot and used all the pieces. It wasn't until I was standing there about to sing Happy Birthday that my sister-in-law Bonnie pointed out there were eight ice cream cones, not seven. (All I can say is you get what you pay for!!)
Camille didn't mind, though.
Here's Tatum and Parker. Being... sweet?
Nope, she was whacking him on the head. He's loving it.
In-action shot of the present opening.
Half the fun was the pressure of me trying to cut my 6-layer cake without the piece collapsing on itself.
See, it was no puny cake.

Eliminating the Middleman

Why bother with the whole hand-to-mouth business when you can get the cake directly where it needs to go?

"Bwoo"

Parker is learning his colors! Well, mostly just blue, but he attempts to repeat several others, too. This is the best video I've gotten so far, but he has said "Bwoo" a lot more clearly on other occasions. (What do you mean, 'Overly proud parent?' I don't understand!)

Tracy Aviary

Chris has a 4-day weekend, so although tomorrow's plans include cleaning (bleh), today we went to the Tracy Aviary in Salt Lake. The kids love birdies, and I had never been there, but as an added bonus we accidentally arrived on a Free Day. So, we rented a wagon for $3 since we forgot the stroller. Not a bad deal!
Pelicans are actually kind of mean. We got out of there before the gang war between them and the ducks broke out.
My cute family. It might take you a second to spot the bird, but he's there.
I loved the comments from Kenzie as we went around. "Mom, what's that red thing? Is that his nose?" "Ha, that bird has a weird hair-do!" and so on.
Kenzie took this picture for us. Just what is this thing? A gingerbread man with a rocket? An earless monkey with a corn husk? Either way, it was tempting to take our Christmas photos right then and there.
Flamingos! Kenzie was really happy to see them, since she'd been asking about flamingos recently but hadn't seen them before.
When I originally told Kenzie we could go see birds, she got really excited. "A peacock? I love peacocks!" So getting to see some peacocks up close made the trip complete for her.
We got Parker out of the wagon so he could see better, and he refused to get back in. He marched around the rest of the time. When he saw this bench, though, he ran right over and climbed up onto it to sit. Here he is blowing a kiss with Daddy. He wore himself out and fell asleep on the way home. That's always the sign of a good trip for the little guy!
