Look Out, World

Funny, I wanted to show a picture of pickles actually on the ice cream, but the Google image results were grossing me out! That is definitely not what I want to see, smell, or eat! But anyways, here is the announcement - I am pregnant with my third baby! This morning I had an ultrasound to see how far along I was, since there was some confusion as to dates. May 6, 2011 is now my due date, and tomorrow I'll be 9 weeks along. I got to hear the heartbeat and see the little blob, so all seems to be well. Still kind of crazy to think about Chris and I being outnumbered...

Another Little Helper

I have a million pictures of McKenzie helping me cook, so it only seemed fair to take a few pictures when Parker helped make cookies with us yesterday. He had an armful of dinosaur-shaped cookie cutters and was ready to help!
Kenzie was good about sharing, but when I went to take the picture and Parker was holding the sprinkles, jealousy ensued. Makes for a funny picture, though!
Kenzie is now showing off the "Grand Old Flag cookie cutter" - she even sang the song while we worked. So there you have it, a patriotic activity in honor of 9/11. I have two proud little bakers!

Mommy's New Toy

Of course, the kids are under the impression that this is their new toy. Still, after years of not being able to practice the piano, I finally bought one!
It's an older, refurbished piano, but I really liked it and think it makes the front room feel more "homey" now. I bought an unfinished bench, so once I stain that (always another project...) then it'll be complete.

End of Summer

Labor Day was a bit chilly, so it was the perfect time to drag out the ol' fire pit. Despite going out for ice cream only minutes earlier, the kids still begged to roast marshmallows.
I really loved the expression on Parker's face as he "roasted" his marshmallow from a safe distance.
Good enough for him! It sure feels like fall is officially here. Kenzie's in school, it's cooler, I've already raked leaves a few times... Happy September!

First Day of Kindergarten!

My little girl, about to head off to Kindergarten for her first day! She was so excited. She had her new princess shoes and princess backpack on an hour before we needed to leave. "I will just wear my flower shirt because Mrs. Brown loves flowers!" Kenzie told me. (Already a suck-up! haha)
Parker had his backpack out, too, and was running around yelling about the school bus. (We live too close to use the bus, though. According to Kenzie we "get good exercise" by walking anyways).
When we dropped her off, my confident little girl ran right in. No wave, no goodbye, just headed off on her new adventure. She'll do fine, so I wasn't too sad, but Parker sure wailed when he realized she'd left him behind!
