Who's Got Cabin Fever?

Answer: my kids. Here's Kenzie hanging out in the laundry basket, after applying her 17th layer of lipstick.
Of course, Parker was jealous so we had to set him up in a laundry basket, too. I think it's safe to say we're in need of Spring!

Remind Me Why He Has a Bed?

Here's where I found Parker yesterday during naptime...
And here's where I found him today! (At least he's napping, I guess!)

Mommy's Revenge

A few days ago, Parker locked me out of the house when I went to throw away his poopy diaper. So, I couldn't resist "getting him back" by taking some pictures of him as he modeled Kenzie's pink dress shoes this afternoon.
Nice, huh?

Cheering Up Grandpa

"But, we can just come cheer you up!" Kenzie said to Grandpa, after learning Grandma wasn't home and Grandpa was going to eat dinner by himself. How can you turn down this company? (Answer: you can't. They'll join you anyways and eat all your food. At least they're cute doing it!)

An Unintentional Nap

5:42pm - I tried three times this afternoon to get him to take a nap - each time he got out of bed and played. Finally, he couldn't make it any longer!

Parker with his Grandparents

The other day I realized I hadn't taken a picture of Parker with his grandparents yet. He was born while they were on their mission, and since we're living in their house it just doesn't occur to me to take a picture when we see them every day. So here they are. Everyone's holding toothbrushes because Parker was excited about them coming in his Valentine's package. ("Teeth! Teeth!")

Bye-Bye, Crib

Parker blowing kisses, thinking it's hilarious to be playing in the middle of his half-dismantled crib. He didn't realize what was going on for a little bit. Once the toddler bed started to take shape, though, he asked, "Night night?" and got very excited.
I was impressed that he took a nap with no problems at all. Even at bedtime, he only got out of bed once. Kenzie had piled all his stuffed animals on the bed for him, so he played for a bit in bed, but still for his first day in a toddler bed he was really good.
Night-night!

Family Field Trip

Friday we rode TRAX to the University of Utah and back so Chris could see how long the trip takes. It was Parker's first time on the train, and he thought it was great. He laughed when it got going fast. At each stop he would say, "Gin! Gin!" (again)
Daddy and Kenzie in front of the Park Building, where he'll be working. And, in case you're interested, it took exactly an hour for us to get home.

Preschool Party

I got a kick out of Kenzie getting ready for preschool yesterday, just brushing her teeth with her princess cell phone hanging off her arm.
It was her preschool's Valentine's party, and Kenzie was so excited. She made a haul, too! The biggest hit was the pinwheel, although a Transformers pencil was a close second. Funny how exciting a pencil can be to a 4-year-old. A new little teddy bear surprised her in the car from Mom and Dad, too. (Parker wasn't left out - I gave him a new toy car. Apparently he wasn't impressed, though. He handed it right back!)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Ah, Forced Smile. Where would we be without you?
The kids got a Valentine's package today from their grandparents. Opening presents is always a blog-worthy event in this house!
A new kitty, named something like Whoo-shee-ginko. I don't know why Kenzie comes up with the weirdest names. I finally suggested, "Lucy the Cat" and she liked it.
Parker giving his stuffed horse a kiss.
The big hit for this little guy, though, was the marshmallow lollipop. He was dancing around, yelling, "Mo-mo! Mo-mo!" (which is how he says "marshmallow") - I couldn't get the package open fast enough.
Definitely my new favorite picture of this kid. He ate 75% of the thing in one sitting!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Just the Boys

Today was Chris's last day of work for the Jordan School District. To celebrate, he had the guys over for a greasy food fest. (Ok, that part is my fault. I got too excited reading all the food blogs on Super Bowl food. I had to try everything.) Anyways, hooray for a long weekend and starting a new job next week!

The Irony of Naptime

Volcano

Kenzie learned about "vuhl-kuh-nos" in preschool the other day. That got Chris thinking he should make a volcano with her. 4-year-old attention spans being what they are, though, we settled for some vinegar and baking soda in a jar.
I enjoyed the reactions on her face from something so simple. And, fact of the day: "Mom, the hot lava just killed all the dinosaurs!" So be careful if you make your own volcano.

Buddies

Kenzie does like to take care of her little brother. Here she built him a little bed in the corner of his room behind a chair. She even brought in her pillow and blanket for him to use.
He almost fell asleep there, too, he was so snuggly!
